A new year and new films. My count of films watched last year was a little low, partly due to less time but also because the time I did have I used to watch so much amazing TV. How can films compete with such great short-form content? Well, we’ll have to see how this year goes and the next batch might help!

January

  • The Boys in the Boat A good sporting movie is always welcome, and this one is directed by George Clooney so who knows?
  • Mean Girls The movie adaptation of a musical adaptation of an existing movie. This is where culture is at!
  • Good Grief I absolutely binge-watched my way through Schitt’s Creek last year and obviously fell in love with Dan Levy. This looks moving and enlightening and everything you’d expect.

February

  • Argylle Smart, sassy spy movie from Matthew Vaughn, this is a combination that has worked before!
  • Madame Web I don’t fully understand what this movie is or where it fits in the various universes, but it’s a good cast so why not?
  • Wicked Little Letters This seems like a bit of an odd one but Olivia Colman is a legend and the amount of swearing is incredible!

March

  • Dune: Part Two Two big sequels in March. I don’t know how I feel about Dune having read a lot of the books and been a bit nonplussed about it all. But it’s a must watch anyway, isn’t it?
  • Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire I didn’t know a sequel was coming so this crept up on me a bit. It’s like a whole movie of the freezing scene in The Day After Tomorrow!

A good collection of movies here, sequels and original ideas and true stories and musicals and more. Hooray for a fresh new year of film fun!
