Goodnight Seattle, we love you

It seems like I’ve been saying this a lot recently - this thing from the past is coming back or being rebooted in some way, and it sounds like a really bad idea. And, just as with most of the other things, it’s actually turned out so much better than I was expecting.
In this instance, the subject in question is the Paramount reboot of Frasier. It seemed so unnecessary… the show was perfect and the return of the grumpy radio therapist would be without half the original cast, and completely changing locations and situations. Surely, it wasn’t going to work? Also, what on earth was Nicholas Lyndhurst doing in it?
Turns out, he was stealing the show most of the time. I really, really loved this reboot. The situation was contrived but kinda made sense in context. The new group of characters are all good and rounded enough to be interesting, with the exception of David who always seemed a bit on the edge of things.
The continuing development of the relationship between Frasier and his fireman son is the main thrust of the show and their constant butting heads because of their different philosophies of life were often hilarious. But the lazy antics of Lyndhurst’s tenured professor and long-time friend of Frasier added a significant amount to each episode.
They had plenty of affectionate nods to the previous show and characters, and also plenty of meta side-swipes at the chaos that can often occur when Frasier is scheming for something. It was, ultimately, a lot of fun, and so whilst again I have gone into something wondering why it exists, I’ve come out the other end hoping it won’t be too long until there’s some more.
