One step further

This is typical me. My Apple Watch fitness goal for August was based on completing a certain number of kilometres across the course of the month. I achieved it, just, but have now decided for September, I’m going to do a bit of walking every day. If I’d done this last month, I’d have easily achieved that badge. Oh well.

On the flip side, it’s an Apple Watch badge that has prompted this challenge. The National Parks badge requires a 1.6km (1 mile) walk outside, and that gave me the idea… to get outside for at least a 10 minute walk every day for 30 days. The good thing about the 10 minute cut off is it’s short enough to motivate me out the door but also I’m likely to do more than that once I’m outside.

My walking habits are on and off, and at the moment very much off. I’ve been focusing very much on indoor fitness recently but going for that brief walk made me think that it’s not as hard as my brain believes to just pop outside. Plus, there are additional benefits from getting a bit of fresh air at the same time. The only potential downside, particularly doing this in September, is we’re starting to dip towards autumn so the weather may get more changeable and unpredictable.

That’s part of the challenge though, so let’s see how we get on. Walkies!
