My love of all things bunker/fort/island led me to googling everything I could find about Spitbank Fort. Aside from the fact that it’s not the greatest name ever, it’s also a round concrete fort situated off the South Coast that’s been turned into a hotel. It’s amazing!

I love the concept of being tucked away on an island like that, although if you’re hoping to do a lot of sightseeing, I’d imagine you might get sick of constantly going back and forth by boat. The facilities on the fort itself are good, but they’re not really enough to keep you entertained for a long time: hot tubs, bars and a billiards room - great for relaxation.

You don’t just have to hire out the entire fort, you can stay there for a single night, although it looks like the room tariffs are quite pricey! It’s a unique experience, though. I’d love to go and visit!
