The first time I saw the MagSafe idea in action, I was impressed. The magnet is fun to play around with, and heaven knows I can be clumsy, so having a safeguard in place can only be a good thing.
Mr C has the MacBook with the funky power lead, but unfortunately, the laptop is on the way out. First it needed a new battery. The existing one didn’t work. It relied on mains power.
Now, it has cooling issues and once again, taking the battery out of the equation has solved the problem. The thing is, if you don’t have battery power, and then you knock the MagSafe out… you’re screwed.
You’ve lost your work.
To solve this problem, I reckon there should be a little switch on the side.
- Option 1 - I am around children and animals (and Christine), please allow my power cord to be pulled out easily.
- Option 2 - I need to invest in a new MacBook, but until I do, please hold on to the power as if your life depended on it. Because, actually, it does.
As there are no such options on his laptop, we have had to go the gaffa tape route instead.
