Being Human began as part of a BBC Three pilot trial, and was successful enough to garner a commission. The first series of the programme comes to an end on 1st March, and it’s now confirmed the sci-fi drama will return for another eight episodes.

Following the lives of a vampire, werewolf and ghost co-habiting in Bristol, the RDF Media Group show has proved a hit in it’s BBC Three timeslot. It’s highest ratings include over a millions viewers, and the critics love it.

Personally, I couldn’t get through the first episode, but it was even successful on the iPlayer. The first two episodes were the most watched at the time, and the website has seen a soar in hits.

Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama Commissioning, said:

I am very excited Being Human is returning for a second series. It’s a distinctive modern series that has captured the imagination of the BBC Three audience in terms of strong viewer loyalty and critical acclaim, signalling a real breakthrough for drama on the channel.

At the completely opposite end of the television spectrum, Great British Menu has also been recommissioned for two further series.

The cooking show has already served Queen Elizabeth, the elite of France, and the world’s top chefs, so what can they possible have up their sleeves for series four and five?

We know for sure that the next series will feature the chefs competing for the chance to cook for soldiers returning from duty in Afghanistan. Series five remains a mystery.
