Self control

Published February 1, 2006

Every night I set my alarm for the morning, and at some point during the night I will always add an extra hour to the time. Then when the alarm finally goes off, I know that I have to get up - there is no option.

I don’t know why I can’t seem to get up when I want to. I’m tired, yes, but I’m always tired and this shouldn’t make any difference. I can count the number of days that I have woken up feeling refreshed on one hand, so you’d think I would be used to it by now. Maybe it’s ‘cos I don’t want to get up and go to work, but I’m trying to convince myself that I could use the extra time in the morning to do something useful.

It’s just a matter of will over sleepiness, and I have to figure out which is stronger.
