Superman II

It has two things going for it. The first is that Christopher Reeve does a great job with this character. Although the whole disguise business is laughable, he really does do his best to distinguish between the two, and I think he’s really charming and funny at times. The other thing is that at least this time, the whole film was watchable (whereas the last one had a start and end that really ruined the much better middle). But it was so frustrating.

Superman moves with the times

I stumbled across a post on Wired.co.uk a while back and I thought it was fascinating. Apparently, DC Comics are going to have Superman storm out of the Daily Planet, preferring to take his chances in the online journalism world with his own blog. I had never really thought about the fact that Superman/Clark Kent as a journalist in the Daily Planet was starting to be a bit old school. Although, having said that, the appearance of the Daily Bugle in Spider-Man did seem a bit out of place - much as I loved the snarky editor.

Superman Returns

Not the best film in the world, let’s be honest. The shuttle bit was the best scene in the whole film. The guy acting as Superman really was hired just for his looks and not acting ability, but the same can be said of everyone involved. Also, we didn’t really follow the beginning of the story - didn’t realise this was a continuation of a film and not necessarily accessible as a standalone.
