Another tricksy Rubik's Cube

Spotted this on Kottke and had to share. As Kottke says: “When the hand reached in to turn the Rubik’s Cube, my brain melted and spilled out of my ear and into a puddle on the floor.”

The Rubik's clock

Remember when I completed the Rubik’s Cube? It’s not my proudest moment, so I don’t really want to bring it up again, but Steven left an interesting comment: I never managed to to get more than three side of the cube completed so well done. Now you need a new challenge you should try to find a Rubik clock. Mr C immediately piped up and said he had a Rubik’s Clock, and he wasn’t lying.

It’s done! And yes, I totally cheated. My dad found this book in his attic, and it is the very same book that I used as a child. As I mentioned before, this is the book that we had sitting around the house and even with that in front of me, as a little kid I still couldn’t get the cube to work properly. I don’t know what planet I was on as a child, because as an adult it took about five minutes from opening the book to completing the cube.

How I learned to stop worrying and light my cube

Remember a while ago I was blogging about my Rubik’s Cube? That is still in progress, by the way, but I am in the same predicament I was before - keep trying to achieve something but messing it up and finally scraping back to having just one side complete. At some point I will just go ahead and buy the book to attempt to move on, but I am not willing to admit defeat just yet.

A Rubik's roadblock

One side done! I should have posted this a while ago, because it’s dangerous having a Rubik’s Cube just sitting about on the desk. First, I managed to get the white side complete but the edge pieces didn’t match the ones they were supposed to. After a bit more fiddling about, I got the white side done correctly. I don’t quite know how I did it, and I don’t remember using particular logic, but perhaps I did!
