Destination Wedding

I really loved this. I can totally understand that this is going to be a film that you either love or hate, but I loved it. It’s just Winona and Keanu bickering for 90 minutes, and it was brilliant. Although at times things got a little bit wordy and it started to feel you were watching a high-brow play, but whenever that happened, one of them would just let slip an insult that brought you right back down to earth.

John Wick: Chapter 2

These movies are so good because they’re like James Bond but without all the other crap that goes along with being Bond. Fun locations, spy games, lots of action and the occasional bit of humour. But no misogyny, no having to bother about the politics, and not a whole lot of talking really.

John Wick

We spent quite a lot of time going, ooh Matrix and ooh Speed, but actually, this film did seem to avoid most of the normal action cliches. He spent the whole time looking for this guy and then eventually dispatched him with just a couple of gunshots. And it was quite fun how cars seemed to be his nemesis. He could fight a hundred people at once, but got hit by at least three cars.

Side by side by side

Side by side by side

A couple of weeks on from watching Mission to Lars, Mr C and I settled down to watch another documentary film. This time, it was Side By Side - a film in which Keanu Reeves talks to a lot of directors, cinematographers, producers, actors and the like about the evolution from film to digital when it comes to making movies. Once again I didn’t think I was going to like it, so I was reading stuff on my iPad rather than paying attention.
