Doctor Who: Series 5, Episode 3 - Victory of the Daleks

Ah, I know plenty of people have said it before, but it is so good to have regular episodes again. All that waiting to find out what the Doctor was going to do in his next special was not fun. I really didn’t think much of this week’s story. It had tons of potential, Winston Churchill, a war room, Daleks on our side for once. It all got a bit crazy though, and as soon as they started changing colour, I kind of lost interest.

Doctor Who: Series 5, Episode 2 - The Beast Below

I didn’t manage to catch this live, which means I’ve already let myself down a little bit, however, it was worth waiting for. A few thoughts on the latest episode of Doctor Who. It very much reminded me of Gridlock - the episode where there were all those car type things stuck on a motorway type thing. The idea of the human race stuck inside, trying to find a way of living without upsetting the beast below.

The road to Superleague

Words from the man himself about how he came to be racing in the Superleague Formula this year. The story begins thus: OK, I don’t know neither the car or the drivers who will be playing in the field with me… so let’s talk about what I actually know, it will be faster and probably much more interesting for you, guys! So once upon a time… Hehehe, bless. Girondins de Bordeaux have a blue and white team badge and thus the car should look something like this:

Off to see the groundhog?

Yay for Groundhog Day! I didn’t know I was particularly bothered about Groundhog Day before, but apparently it is something that makes me keep an eye on a Twitter search to see what Phil decides. I am ascribing this to the fact that over the past year or so, I discovered marmots were ridiculously cute, and of course, Groundhog Day was the first Film Watch movie I covered. So, now I want to go to Punxsutawney and see what it’s all about.

Your hangover cures

In my recent post about breakfast, I inadvertently mentioned hangover cures, and a couple of comments picked up on that. That got me wondering what other weird and wonderful things people use to clear their hangovers. Let’s be responsible about this though: drinking isn’t smart or clever. Don’t do it. Except if you’ve had a really bad day. Then you can be excused. Ah-hem, so… I mentioned that my hangover cure was simply bubbles.

The Great Gardening Adventure - Week 5

It is all about the greens this week, as the strawberry crop seems to have become non-existant all of a sudden. I only had about three or four delicious strawberries to eat. The rest were too small and went bad before I could get to them. I believe there are some new buds beginning though, so I will be patient once more. Meanwhile, I have turned my attention to the rest of the plants.

Don't even have to pick up the phone

Don't even have to pick up the phone

If you trace the origins of our eating habits back far enough, you’ll find that a man would knock a rabbit on the head with a club, and bring it back to his cave for eating. Fast forward a few millennia (have no idea about the timescale of humans?), and I had a pizza delivered to my house as a result of typing for a few minutes. Of all the takeaway options, pizza is probably my least favourite, but after a hectic weekend it seemed like the ideal solution.

Clocking in

Clocking in

I was not having a particularly good day, and I left my desk for just a couple of minutes only to return and find the world had ended. Newly installed in my office, I discovered… a clock! I have two issues with this: I already have a clock on the phone, on my mobile, on my iPod, on my PC, and on the air con. There is a reason I no longer find it necessary to wear a watch.

Daydreams of sugar

Daydreams of sugar

I was reading this post from Alex about a giant sweet shop, and it made me think about all those old time confectionaries that are so delicious, but you just don’t eat anymore. When the market visits, there’s a rather large pick ’n’ mix stall that has many, many varieties to choose from, but I never stop and look or buy. These days, it’s all about the bar of chocolate, or occasionally a pack of something silly like Haribo.
