V is for Valley of the Rocks

The Valley of the Rocks is in North Devon, accessible from the nearby village of Lynton. It’s steeped in history, all sorts of Ice Age glacier references and rocky bits and pieces. The Wikipedia entry has what is now my new favourite word – fossiliferous – included in the description. Apparently parts of the book Lorna Doone were set there, although I can’t really picture that in my head, despite having read it relatively recently.

Cornwall 2005, day one: In which we begin our journey

Day One was the only day that I really cared about the weather, although, of course, I was praying for it not to rain for the rest of the week. Day One was a surprise, something I’d been planning for a while, since I was at this particular place last. While Mr C was packing, I popped out to collect some bits and bobs for the journey. He guessed that I was planning a picnic.

Getting ahead of myself

Today, I was driving through Dartmoor and winding around those intriguing roads. Into my head popped an amazing story, and I was visualising it being adapted from the book to television, on the BBC. Of course, the big obstacle is writing it, but at least the dream is there.
