Barcodes + movies = art

Mr C showed me this Tumblr site a good few weeks ago now, and I was instantly in love. In a nutshell, the Movie Barcodes are all the frames of a movie squidged up to make a colourful (or not so colourful) barcode style image. In some cases, they’re offered as prints, and I am sorely tempted to snap some up. Some of them are better than others, naturally, and I find some of those that have been created with fewer images make my brain go a little fuzzy, but the really good ones are so impressive.

Blogathon 2006 (42 of 48): The picture in the window

A long time ago, I walked past an art shop and saw the best painting I’ve ever spotted. It was a deserted beach, somehow done in purple, with two lonely figures walking along together. So, actually, they probably weren’t so lonely. And I suppose the beach wasn’t so deserted. Bad description. The price tag was out of reach at the time, and although still a stretch, a couple of years on I could probably scrape together the funds to buy something I really loved.

Blogathon 2006 (25 of 48): Art class

Having been staring at my very special Blogathon header picture for 12 hours, it is now seared into my brain. I wish that I could make things like that. When it comes to art, I can see exactly what I want to happen in my head, but I can never get it to come out on the paper, or whatever medium I happen to be working with. I remember one particular art class at school where we were drawing pictures of some fruit in a bowl, and my apples actually looked like an apple, and I got a B or something like that.
