The land of tomorrow

I expected to like one of the latest shows on Apple TV+, Hello Tomorrow! because I’ve grown to love Billy Crudup and he was front and centre of this series. Oh and he’s selling real estate on the moon and we all know how much I love that celestial object. The show is styled as ‘retro-futuristic’ which is a word that makes my head fizz a bit, but I guess that’s the best description of it.

Little by little

Little by little

I love, love, loved the first series of Little America - an anthology show on Apple TV that focuses in on true stories of immigrants finding their way in the US, although ultimately it’s simply stories about being human. Sometimes that’s a drama in a family, sometimes it is someone doing something brave and heroic, sometimes it’s an unexpected person absolutely smashing it out of the park and inspiring us all to do better.

Trying - Season 1, Episode 4 quotes

Last year, in preparation for the new series of Trying, I started rewatching the show from the beginning and loved it so much that I had to start pulling out the best quotes from each episode to refer back to. I only got a couple of episodes done last year but I’m picking up the thread again now with some more absolute gems.

All for one and one for all

All for one and one for all

The third series of For All Mankind started streaming on Apple last June. For something that I proclaim to be one of my favourite shows, it’s shameful that it’s taken me over six months to get round to watching it. But you know what it’s like, there’s always something shiny and new to try and more TV that its possible to watch, plus it’s always nice to have an old faithful waiting in the wings for when all else fails.

Plus a bit more

Plus a bit more

Apple have released a comprehensive round up of their 2022 entertainment and services - inevitably happy about how successful they have been - with wisdom from VP of the sector, Eddy Cue. There are lots of facts and figures, as you might imagine, but I do like the summary from Mr Cue: It’s remarkable how much great content is at our fingertips; that’s a testament to the extraordinary work of creators worldwide.

Before and after dark

Before and after dark

I recently finished watching the second series of Home Before Dark, an Apple TV+ show that is a mystery adventure following a family in a small town. When you try and describe this show in any more detail than that, it starts to sound a bit odd: Well, there’s a ten year old girl who thinks she’s a reporter and digs into a cold case when her family moves back to the small town her father grew up in.

Eighty books behind but a great place to start

Eighty books behind but a great place to start

Apple TV+ launched on Friday and yes, you can expect plenty of future updates on the content that came with it. Dickinson was mega! But this isn’t about that. This is about the first episode of Oprah’s Book Club distributed by Apple. I’ve already discussed how I dived right in and started reading the book as Apple quite cleverly coincided the book club with their new reading goals in the Books app.
