“In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks new mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.”
1:20 - Hooray, scrolly reading thing! 3:16 - Whose idea was it to have Ade Edmondson in this? Can’t take him seriously at all! 7:01 - Dude, you don’t switch off Princess Leia. 11:44 - I like that Poe didn’t smile. Close up, this kind of destruction must be terrifying. 15:55 - Porg Puffins! 17:44 - Dude likes to hologram far bigger than he is in real life. 20:45 - “You think I came to the most unfindable place in the galaxy for no reason at all?” 26:44 - “Get your head out of your cockpit.” Haha, Poe. 36:28 - Purple hair, that’s a good sign. 39:34 - Doing talking. Oh, Rose, I’ve been there. 48:36 - Just makes you think of Luke being rubbish at his training. 49:17 - Is the breathe app really Jedi training? Ima do it every day! 54:52 - Alien Monaco. 1:07:49 - They do move in herds! 1:09:03 - That actually is Monaco, isn’t it? 1:21:37 - Yoda! Steals every scene. 1:29:45 - Not enough Stormtroopers in this film, I say. 1:42:16 - Argh, this film has so many odds stacked against the good guys! 1:53:54 - Oops, got caught up in the film and the iPad went to sleep. Type more. 1:57:04 - Loving the rebel bunker. 2:02:06 - Stowaway Porg. 2:06:18 - “That’s how we’re gonna win. Not by fighting what we hate, by saving what we love.” 2:11:33 - Oh wow, Skywalker brings the sass!
I loved this. Things I didn’t like include the fact it’s so long, the fact that it’s hard to take Ade Edmondson seriously in something like this, and really anything that had to do with Snoke. Otherwise, I loved it.
There was something different about it compared to the other films, in that there wasn’t such a clear distinction between good and bad. It wasn’t just ‘believe us, there’s still some good in him’ like it was with Darth Vader. In Ben/Kylo, we’ve seen it with our own eyes and that makes a difference. And Luke’s moment of madness shows that even good people can do/consider doing bad things.
Princess Leia, Rey and Rose rule this movie for me and I loved that Poe, whilst brilliant, wasn’t allowed to just get away with being a superhero all the time. And that in the end, it wasn’t really him that saved the day.
Long, but packed with good Star Wars content, this was a worthy addition to the saga.
