Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Illumination Entertainment's Sing stars Buster Moon (Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now faced with the crumbling of his life's ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world's greatest singing competition. From writer/director Garth Jennings, Sing is produced by Illumination Entertainment founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy. Sing is released by Universal Pictures.

1:22 - It’s like Zootopia with all the different animals getting along nicely. 2:54 - “…as crazy as he is stubborn.” 6:22 - Imagine the laundry for the pig household. Eeshk! 7:37 - The elephants are dressed like Babar! 10:05 - Hahaha, chicken in a suit. 13:55 - Shortest commute ever. Even better than living in the flat above the office. 19:50 - Aww, the oh my gosh bunnies didn’t get in. 23:28 - His office is such a mess, I want to tidy it. 30:08 - Yea, she made a gadget that does all the stuff for you. I so want to do that. 32:58 - “Don’t worry Rosita, I haf glo-sticks.” Gunther is the best. 34:57 - Stagehand would be a fab job. 42:03 - “And lower the moon.” 48:44 - Buster’s optimism is incredible, very inspo. 52:46 - Porcupine in tears shouldn’t be funny but it is. 58:58 - Even fake cartoon supermarkets are hideously bright. 1:05:37 - Squid lighting is ridiculously good! 1:08:09 - Oh my god, the broken theatre. 1:16:28 - I would go to that car wash every day, and I hate car washes! 1:24:37 - You see, you just don’t think gorilla singing Elton and playing piano is gonna make you yay out loud, but it did. 1:34:42 - I love the sheep bod! 1:42:10 - Squids are like Hue lighting.
I’ve been looking forward to this one since I saw the trailer. Okay, yes, it’s probably a bit childish and not at all groundbreaking (so like Zootopia, it’s kinda painful) but also it’s animals singing. Bunnies doing Nikki Minaj, a German pig with sass, what else do you need?
It was actually even better than I thought. I was hoping for relaxing fun singing with animals in place of humans, but it was actually a really good film too - the side stories of each character, everyone having to pull together to save the situation from disaster, it was all really, good.
Plus, Gunter really was brilliant.
