I don’t know when I became aware of this film, but when I suggested it to Mr C and we watched the trailer… we were sort of put off. It’s George Clooney though, and he makes everything special, so we decided to give it a go.

00:01:13 - This title sequence is weird. It’s making me dizzy. 00:04:29 - George!!! He’s lovely. 00:05:56 - Oh dear. George is being suspiciously neat. We’d never get on. 00:07:00 - I think he might have done that whole security thing before. 00:09:32 - “Imagine waking up tomorrow with nothing. Kind of exhilarating, isn’t it?” 00:11:52 - Who knew rental cars could be a pick up line? 00:16:00 - That’s not even a long-distance relationship - that’s a multi-distance relationship. 00:19:47 - She had exceptionally white teeth. You take cleaning too far, you know. 00:22:09 - That’s his line! 00:25:21 - What does she do at the company if she doesn’t do the firing thing? 00:27:27 - His sister ruined his system. Hehe, heads poking out of a suitcase. 00:30:01 - She “types with purpose.” Mr C does that too. 00:36:02 - Some of these redundancy bits are surprisingly moving. 00:37:26 - 10 million miles??? 00:44:49 - I wonder how all these employees will be credited at the end. 00:46:58 - “We are not swans.” Phew. “We’re sharks.” Oh. 00:49:56 - Best line of the film! I love it. Although, who cries like that in the middle of a hotel lobby? I am quite disturbed by that scene. 00:54:30 - If they have stolen some passes, does that mean other legitimate people won’t be able to get in? 00:55:02 - Uh oh, dancing. 01:07:13 - What if he looked in and saw they were in the next room? That would be weird. 01:11:25 - We should have watched this with an atlas. 01:18:25 - Why would anyone break INTO a school? Crazy talk. 01:22:15 - That’s a Sunday School, right? So many schools. I went to Sunday School for a bit. **01:25:16 **- If someone asked me to be their co-pilot I’d say NO! I don’t like to fly. 01:26:09 - I thought the uncle was going to walk her up the aisle. 01:32:32 - He sacrificed air miles! 01:36:38 - Woah, that’s a moustache.**** 01:44:57 - Ahh, Terminated People. That’s how they were credited. The Terminator would be proud.

Conclusions

Despite the worries after watching the trailer, I really enjoyed the film. As expected, Mr Clooney can make anything great, but the story was good too. It was slightly predictable in places. The bit where he visited Alex at home, and the bit about the bridge, all guessed in advance. But the relationship between George and Natalie was good. I’m glad it wasn’t a “throw two odd people together and watch them fall in love” thing. Recommended. Also, how much did American Airlines pay!?
