“The Carver Media Group Network seems to know the news even before it happens. It’s up to James Bond to find out how and why.”
2:57 - Love a good situation/mission control room. 9:08 - Genius to hide a plane under a plane like that. 13:42 - Baby Julian Rhind-Tutt!! 17:24 - And Gerard Butler. This is the best ship ever. 21:25 - I mean, they blatantly are Jobs and Wozniacki. The bad version, anyway. 24:29 - “My goal is to prevent World War Three, Admiral.” 28:51 - I don’t think Bond knows what pristine means. 30:16 - Phone with fingerprint scanner and touchscreen. Ahead of its time. 37:45 - Beating someone up is such a waste of a soundproof room. 41:50 - “The key to a great story is not who or what or when, but why.” 53:37 - Would love a car that started up before you got in it, you just get in and drive. 1:00:31 - Really love this car chase, from the back seat! 1:07:27 - You know parachuting is super scary when you need oxygen to do it. 1:13:56 - Jonathan Pryce not so good at the fake typing thing. 1:14:45 - “The empire WILL strike back.” Reference! 1:17:59 - Wai Lin is so awesome. 1:18:48 - Best motorcycle stunt ever coming up. 1:32:30 - Love these islandy rocky things in the China seas. 1:36:41 - I want a stealth boat but it seems like there’s a lot of ladders involved. 1:41:00 - “No more absurd than starting a war for ratings.” 1:50:58 - That was gross, I grant you. 1:55:11 - Is there anybody out there?
Not only is this a Brosnan Bond film but it’s also one I’ve seen before - finally! I love this film enormously. From the brilliance of Jonathan Pryce as your media mogul gone mad, to the incredible helicopter versus motorbike stunt, to the superb stealth boat and remote control car, there’s so much to love.
A couple of the deaths are a bit gross, Pryce’s in particular, but considering how bad the bad guys are, I guess it’s only to be expected! Brosnan feels properly settled into the role now, witty one liners but the odd show of emotion as well, plenty of action and he looks good in his Commander’s uniform. Can’t ask for very much else.
I’ve seen it before and I could watch it over and over.
