1:23 - I never really noticed how that other Australian bloke looks quite a lot like Jackman. 4:43 - Hadn’t realised Wolverine was that old, immortal sure but timeless, huh. 10:23 - Actual Will.i.am. Weirdest cast ever. 12:32 - Lift music! Ha! 17:49 - Can’t decide which name is worse, Logan or Jimmy. 21:07 - Dude has HomeKit in his actual brain. 23:42 - Good excuse for having fresh sheets every day, shredded. 25:59 - Wouldn’t Stryker still call him Jimmy? Odd. 31:19 - Arrrrgh, nails along a car bonnet. The worst! 34:45 - You can’t tell someone with rage to stay down, that’s the whole point. 39:52 - Wolverine, yeah! I love an origin story. 44:46 - Naked Wolverine makes it a whole different film. 49:07 - “In the barn. Nothing you can break out there.” 53:07 - Helicopter, buggy, bike - it’s an extreme version of Top Gear. 1:04:10 - They are doling out the rage to Logan this film. Triple rage so far. 1:09:30 - Will.i.was. 1:16:33 - There’s never a need for an eyeball scene like that. 1:27:25 - Not a fan of this Ryan Reynolds look, I must say. 1:29:05 - Blind leading the… others.
Having completed the X-men trilogy, there wasn’t really a need to squeeze this film in before starting on the reboot trilogy, but somehow we still wanted to watch everything in the order it came out. So, it was to Wolverine’s back-story that we went, and I quite liked it. I know that Hugh Jackman has said he wasn’t really a big fan of how this one turned out, and I can see that if he was hoping it would be totes emosh then it didn’t quite hit the spot… but for an X-men movie, I thought it was exactly right.
Mutants fighting the world, and each other. Action and drama, love and consequences, plus it had that thing about origin stories that I love - seeing all the pieces fall into place for why and how characters are as they are today. Plus a bonus guest appearance right at the end!
Not the best film in the world, but certainly entertaining enough. Now, if someone can give Will.i.am acting lessons, then it might pick up an extra point!
