Come join The Addams Family for the most hilarious scarefest of this season or any other! When long-lost Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) reappears after twenty-five years in the Bermuda Triangle, Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston) plan a celebration to wake the dead. But Wednesday (Christina Ricci) barely has time to warm up her electric chair before Thing points out Fester's uncommonly 'normal' behavior. Could this Fester be a fake, part of an evil scheme to raid the Addams fortune?
Title: The Addams Family Director: Barry Sonnenfeld Year: 1991 Run time: 1hr 39m
“The Addams step out of Charles Addams' cartoons. They live with all of the trappings of the macabre (including a detached hand for a servant) and are quite wealthy. Added to this mix is a crooked accountant and his loan shark and a plot to slip the shark’s son into the family as their long lost Uncle Fester. Can the false Fester find his way into the vault before he is discovered?”
1:34 - Interesting font these credits have, some of it not that legible. 4:27 - It must take Thing quite a while to get around that massive house. 10:12 - I really need to think about summer/winter wardrobes. 12:08 - Thing seems to get around though. 16:34 - You wouldn’t have thought the Adammses needed a lawyer. Although perhaps for the things they get up to. 19:38 - I love having your own background music, judging the tempo in the room. 22:11 - Her accent was almost as good as Franck’s. 24:12 - I love how Morticia seems to float. 29:56 - I think we need a slide down to our podcasting bunker. 33:05 - That had the little music that occurs when Lara finds a secret. Treasure! 36:09 - Christina Ricci is so good and so terrifying. 40:54 - Pet vulture. 49:00 - They don’t look very much like brothers. 50:16 - That really is an excellent car. 55:08 - I think I need to know more about the Bermuda Triangle. 1:01:08 - COUSIN ITT! 1:07:56 - “I swear by mummy and daddums.” 1:15:29 - If you learn any lesson from this film, it is to be nice to judges. 1:25:58 - Loving Thing, sometimes obvious CGI, sometimes just a hand through a table. Mostly very good though. 1:31:39 - Pugsley as mini me is genius.
I love this, particularly Wednesday. Anything that celebrates the weird is good by me. Watching it again after quite a long time made me see some of its flaws and that it wasn’t quite as good as I remembered it being. But I still love it, and it’s still very quotable to me.
