Title: RoboCop Director: Paul Verhoeven Year: 1987 Run time: 1hr 42
I hadn’t seen this one, but know it as a classic. I imagined it to be similar to Terminator, and figured they built a Robocop and then it would go Rogue and they would have to stop it. That’s what I was anticipating as the movie began.
1:11 - The TV within the movie has not been upscaled quite so much. 2:02 - Isn’t there another film about a company financing transplant body parts? 3:03 - Weirdest start to a film ever! 4:23 - “Welcome to hell.” Great start to any new job, I’m sure. 5:36 - The smoky atmosphere of many 80s films does not aid the attempt to upscale it to HD. 10:40 - The Enforcement Droid. That would not have been such a catchy film title. 12:49 - Actual proper murder and he just calls it a glitch. 13:57 - None of them seem that bothered that their colleague just got shot to pieces. 15:38 - It’s ER helicopter man! 20:27 - He should have been a bit more prepared for that, they saw how many people were in the van. 30:03 - The cockiness of that RoboCop creator man means I think he will get his comeuppance in the end. 33:43 - She recognises him but he is not going to recognise her. 37:46 - Who taught the RoboCop to say creep? 40:07 - Thermo-cam!! 46:10 - I wish I had a video screen of my dreams/thoughts. Actually, maybe not. 48:15 - “I have to go. Somewhere there is a crime happening.” 49:39 - If the project doesn’t concern cops, why did they base him at the police station? 56:37 - I like a computer for an estate agent. 1:09:57 - A tracking device is useful when you are expecting trouble. 1:13:16 - No stairs! It’s like a Dalek! 1:18:27 - Mr C keeps telling me this isn’t a comedy but I cannot stop laughing. 1:25:24 - I don’t think they’re meant to be wasting their ammo in the middle of the street. 1:34:54 - The animation is awful but I love the ED’s anyway.
Thus proving that it wasn’t what I thought at all. I really enjoyed it. I laughed quite a lot, even in places where I wasn’t supposed to, which I think annoyed Mr C but it was out of enjoyment more than anything. The animation of the ED things was rubbish, and I docked Terminator quite a lot for that, but it didn’t feel quite so bad in this one. Additionally, the special effects of RoboCop when his helmet was removed were brilliant! Overall, very good, much enjoyed.
