Background Info

We’ve seen this one before and liked it. I had no burning desire to see it again, but as I was browsing through some of the newly available in HD films in iTunes, it jumped out at me. We were in the mood for something a little less superhero and a little more human, even if it was super spies instead. I was also interested how it would be watching it, knowing all the behind the scenes history.

0:52 - Mr C loves him already. 2:30 - Dare I ask Mr C how long we’ve been together? 3:40 - John and Jane. It’s like a children’s book. 4:44 - It’s fair to say she has more chemistry with him than she did with Johnny Depp. 9:11 - “Can you stop hitting him, I think he said something crazy.” 12:09 - I think you can probably tell if someone doesn’t wear their ring all the time, it sort of leaves a mark. 17:26 - I need to experiment more with scarves and stuff, I just always think they look stupid on me. 20:29 - I love drunk Brad. 22:56 - And I need a hand bag like that! Not that I have much opportunity for jumping off buildings. 30:29 - Poor Angelina should never have done Tomb Raider because everything she does is so Lara! 39:32 - Covers are blown! All bets are off. 48:04 - “That’s impossible.” Except for the bit where he tried to kill her. 50:35 - She has an impressive array of vans. 52:45 - Stealing his guns is not very nice at all. 54:46 - I want to have an evacuation plan. I also think this is not the first film that has made me say that. I should really get on with it. 1:00:09 - She’s bound to have underestimated him, though. 1:03:14 - “Happy endings are stories that haven’t finished yet.” 1:05:50 - “Do you know that you’re ticking?” 1:10:13 - He doesn’t have any guns there or anything. He’s definitely on the back foot. 1:10:49 - Ooh, a gun! I was wrong. These spies, they do think of everything. 1:13:37 - I feel like it makes less sense they could fight hand to hand. Shooting a gun is far less personal. 1:18:38 - How can their fridge still be working after she shot at it with a machine gun? 1:22:24 - The neighbours are probably going to notice that. 1:24:22 - “Web of lies!” 1:26:57 - Hey, they crashed through those yellow things in Speed. Why is there water by the road? 1:34:51 - He’s almost going rogue but not quite. 1:40:18 - Makes sense why he wasn’t acting like a prisoner this whole time. 1:51:39 - “Sometimes I wanted to kill her but I… couldn’t take the shot.” 1:52:37 - Great ending. Ten!

Conclusions

It must be a reasonably good film for us to have watched it again, and it’s a good action-packed romp with some amusing dialogue throughout. The stereotypes bugged me more this time round. His spy bunker is in the shed, and hers is behind the cooker. Equally, they spent a lot of time saying how much better she was than him, when it really should be a partnership. There were some bits of the story that you could pick holes in, but overall it was fun, and that’s what we were after.
