0:23 Oh yea, I remember. The movie of the movie… as if these movies need to get better.
0:53 This guy dissing on Sandra Bullock is a big no-no.
6:00 “I don’t like being scared,” she says, going back into the scary movie by herself.
13:04 Can’t believe people would phone her up just because of the movie… but then again, trolls, right?

I hadn’t realised the new Scream movie was a continuation of the plot from the previous trilogy+1, I’d thought it was a remake. With this new information, I had to convince Mr C to go back and watch the films we’ve missed, starting with Scream 2. In the end, it didn’t take that much convincing, because this was actually a really good movie.

I’m not sure it fully counts as horror, because the scares were really minimal, ramping up slightly towards the end but even so nothing like a ‘proper’ horror movie. Instead, it was actually a serviceable mystery movie, with lots of leads and red herrings and suspicious actions, plus characters you’d learn to care about moments before they were brutally murdered.

And on top of all that, the fun meta stuff that made the original Scream movie so good. Obeying the rules of the movies, dropping in references to Friends and that conversation about better sequels (more on that another time) is brilliant. Just good fun.
