4:36 “If your ass can’t be on time, be early.”
6:25 Just eat the cake, not the icing. That’ll make the difference.
9:23 “Headphones. Put them on. So I can sleep.”
13:57 I so love Marc Evan Jackson’s voice.
18:39 I so love those LA hiking hills.
20:20 It is a great song!
26:05 Well, R-Dubz is an asshole.
31:01 It must be even harder to break through as a producer than anything. You can’t just release stuff on YouTube like artists do, can you?
36:30 It’s a good feeling when you just know you can make something better.
40:11 “I want to go through my closet and donate things that aren’t sparking joy or whatever.”
49:19 People that write songs. HOWWWW.
58:35 Yep, need her to talk me through life.
59:37 Hold up, why have they switched from ProTools to Logic midway through a song?
1:01:27 Don’t have a doctor as a roommate. “Everything we do is meaningless.”
1:06:59 Only five women over forty?
1:09:50 You have to know what you like, then knowing what you’re doing can follow.
1:20:15 She’s a terrible liar.
1:22:14 I hope she has a Plan C.
1:23:26 No one wants a reference from Ice Cube.
1:29:36 You can’t just whip out Rumours like that. Respect the Rumours.
1:34:42 “I may or may not have said some things that could have hurt someone’s feelings. And for that, I forgive myself.” SHE’S AMAZING.
1:38:28 WHAT?
1:43:47 All of that was really well done, could have been so hokey.

I hadn’t even heard of this film going into it, but we’re always up for a music movie and this looked like it could be good. I’ve not been a big fan of Dakota Johnson in the past (can’t remember why now…) but she was great in this - torn between her loyalty to Grace and her desire to be something more.

The music was great, the story was good, the drama really well done without being over the top or actually too… well, dramatic. Some feelings got hurt but the focus was more on the subtle things, the internal conflicts. And the twist at the end really took me by surprise!

I loved it and was actually annoyed that we could only rent it. Can’t wait to buy it and watch it again!
