This film completely crept up on me. We were looking for some kind of mindless action to distract from the world right now, and Apple had discounted this one as a rental, so in a rare decisive mood, I just went for it. I wasn’t expecting anything and actually it was a pleasant surprise.
You absolutely have to go into it with the right attitude though because I couldn’t stand here and argue it’s actually a really good thriller. There’s a significant suspension of belief required, and you have to roll with the fact that the live streaming is a key plot device but doesn’t really stack up in context.
However, Eckhart and Eaton work really well together, with great banter that makes the best of their differences in age, gender and life philosophy, where it could have been a really awkward watch. I surprised myself by enjoying the movie from start to finish, and was super glad we got away with a happy ending!
