Film Watch - 273. American Pie 2

Fast Facts Title: American Pie 2 Director: J. B. Rogers Year: 2001 Run time: 1hr 48m Background Info Our intent in watching the first American Pie film was to remind ourselves of the characters so that we could watch the new American Reunion film, after the trailer looked quite good. Somehow, we convinced ourselves that we should watch the other two films in between as well, although not those extra ones that don’t really count.

225. Training Day

Fast Facts Title: Training Day Director: Antoine Fuqua Year: 2001 Run time: 2hrs 2 Background Info This is another film that Mr C has seen and liked, which he wanted us to watch. Also, we saw a trailer for Brooklyn’s Finest which is a relatively new film by the same director, and which Mr C suggested was exactly the same movie over again. So, we thought we’d watch this first before seeing what that one was like.

188. Black Hawk Down

Fast Facts Title: Black Hawk Down Director: Ridley Scott Year: 2001 Run time: 2hrs 24 Background Info This is one that I am aware of as one of the big blockbusters, but it’s not a film that I know much about. I didn’t know the story at all, and it wasn’t until about halfway through that Mr C mentioned it was a true story. I do need to work on my general knowledge.

Bandits

I wasn’t sure to start with, how interesting a film could be about two mis-matched robbers failing to rob a bank. But it was really very good. The partnership between Bruce and Billy-Bob developed really well, and whilst I wasn’t that keen on the relationship with the woman, she did bring Bonnie Tyler into the film, so I am happy with that.

Monsters, Inc.

For some reason I feel like I should make excuses for watching this film, but hey, it’s not just for kids. Who doesn’t love a good bit of Pixar? Perhaps this film isn’t AS much fun as it was the last time I watched it, but it’s still a perfectly acceptable way to spend an hour and a half, Pixar certainly know what they’re doing creating multi-level films, especially with all the little things you only notice on multiple viewings.

Ocean's Eleven

Ocean's Eleven

I have seen this film before, a couple of times perhaps, and knew that I liked it going in. The trouble was, I couldn’t remember what happens in it, but it didn’t take long for it to come flooding back. I suspect this is one of those films that is much better watching as if it’s new.
