2013 running diary – 118 of 500 kilometres

I finally found a really good course layout that I am happy running along, and it is exactly 5km taking me from almost door to almost door. It’s perfect, and I started to get in a really good routine, into the groove. I crossed the 100 kilometre mark, moving past 20% of the total. I even managed to get ahead of the target even if it was only by 0.02 of a kilometre.

Then… more snow.

By the end of the month, today, I am disappointingly still 5k off target. I had hoped to be moving ahead of it by now, but I can’t control the weather, and I am too much of a wimp to try slipping about on the ice.

Just a couple of days ago, I visited a sports shop to buy some proper running gloves so that I could actually feel my fingers out in the cold. Since then, the sun has been out, so perhaps I have scared the snow away. If April is a bit warmer (and it better be!) I’m hoping to get back to consistent running, and move above that target for more than just one tiny moment.

  1. Looking good Christine. I can’t imagine having to run in snow and ice. I thought it was a struggle when it was 35 degrees in the afternoon here. I much prefer that than below zero! Keep it up. Seeing other people running inspires me to keep going 🙂

  2. It’s great that you’ve found a route you are happy with. If you can keep up your running in this cold weather you should have no trouble making your target for the year.

I haven’t run in two weeks since my race. I’m struggling to get motivated again in the cold. And taking – what I think – is a well earned break!

  3. I’d say you definitely earned a break!!

Today there was some sunshine, but a breeze. Almost perfect running conditions. It’ll never last.
