Countdown to race day – 20 days to go

This definitely was a crazy idea. But still, sponsor me, won’t you? Lots of very kind and lovely people have sponsored me already, and I am very grateful.

Although that does mean the pressure is on. The numbers are moving in the right direction, but it is still quite rubbish.

Countdown Total Distance (km) Total Moving Time Average Moving Speed (km/h) Notes
T minus 30 days 5.02 45:49 6.57 Really terrible run. Didn’t feel energised and legs hurt almost straight away. Also appear to have injured something in my right ankle. Still, it’s my third official 5k distance.
T minus 28 days 5.00 44:49 6.69 Please, please, please, please, please tell me it gets better than this.
T minus 25 days 5.00 44:16 6.77 Bit better but I am still painfully slow. Got overtaken again. I suck. Ankle no longer hurts though.
T minus 23 days 5.02 46:08 6.45 Worst ever! Grrrrrr. If it’s not better next time, I just don’t know what I’m going to do.
T minus 21 days 5.07 43:28 6.56 I don’t know if it was the nap, the food or the music, but this was so much better. Why can’t they all be like this? I always seem to get a good run just when I’m thinking it’s all hopeless. Roll on next week.

I am beginning to formulate goals for the race, and I pretty much know what they are, but I’m waiting to see whether I can get the time down any more before I set anything specific. My guess is I can’t, but we shall see. It’s starting to get cold out now, and I’ve been double layering. I’m definitely going to have to find some actual running gear soon.

  1. Christine,

    You are selling yourself short.

T-21 you ran further in less time than you did on T-25 but you have a lower speed. My speed calculations say

And the last one I think you should sit down before you read.
