Don’t even have to pick up the phone

If you trace the origins of our eating habits back far enough, you’ll find that a man would knock a rabbit on the head with a club, and bring it back to his cave for eating.

Dominos

Fast forward a few millenia (have no idea about the timescale of humans?), and I had a pizza delivered to my house as a result of typing for a few minutes.

Of all the takeaway options, pizza is probably my least favourite, but after a hectic weekend it seemed like the ideal solution. I hit up google for some nearby outlets, and found that not only do Domino’s deliver, but they take orders online.

Unbelievable.

This may or may not be a new concept, I have no idea, because as mentioned, I rarely order pizza. The process is so simple though: Enter your postcode, choose your food, enter your payment details, hit the “Feed Me” button. It really said that. So cute.

And the food was speedy too.

This has revolutionised my way of thinking. I can order my groceries for delivering online. I can get takeaway food if I run out online. I can book my car in for MOT online (which I did recently, awesome idea too). The only thing I can’t do online now, it seems, is get my hair cut.

Surely it’s only a matter of time?

I don’t know how often I will use this pizza delivery option, but I am sorely tempted, if only because they sell Diet Coke. I am often running out. Do you think they would mind if I ordered ten bottles and no pizza?

  1. As someone who orders more takeaways than he really should, I can confirm that Dominos have been offering online ordering for some time. Pizza Hut are another option.

On the one hand, the service offered by both Dominos and Pizza Hut is great – particularly the fact that you can chose your toppings. That said, they are quite expensive; up to twice the cost of other local takeaways, who are all perfectly happy to supply pizzas not listed on their menus.

http://hungryhouse.co.uk/ is another useful service. They allow you to order online from local takeaways, as well as providing user reviews. Great if you don’t fancy a pizza.

If I didn’t have to work, I would never have to leave the house again 🙂

  3. If there’s one thing Domino’s is known for, it’s for revolutionizing pizza delivery as we know it. 😀 I’ve seen different restaurants here offer online delivery since last year – some more effective than others. But it does seem to be the way of the future.

  4. If Pizza is not high on the list then [IMHO] Domino’s will not persuade you otherwise

Thin crust is obligatory [no, that should not be cheese-filled] ABSOLUTELY no pineapple; or fried egg, bacon, olives [that one may just be me] or using food adjectives originating from outside of Southern Europe [such as tandoori – I love curry, just not on a pizza]

Herein lie the rules, dabble at your peril

Awww, hehe. I was so behind the times in knowing about it! Still, using a phone isn’t exactly inconvenient either.
