Clocking in

I was not having a particularly good day, and I left my desk for just a couple of minutes only to return and find the world had ended. Newly installed in my office, I discovered… a clock! I have two issues with this:

  1. I already have a clock on the phone, on my mobile, on my iPod, on my PC, and on the air con. There is a reason I no longer find it necessary to wear a watch.
  2. It ticks.

To distract myself from the fact that this incessantly noisy object is clucking away beside me, I had a quick search for some clocks that would be worth having around.

Lifetimer

This one looks good, because you can count down to many different events at the same time. I imagine it is a great reminder for those important dates (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)

Backwards Clock

Just to make a change, I guess. You know when you glance at a clock, and then when someone asks you, you have to check again? At least this way you’d have an excuse for not knowing instantly.

80s Cube Clock

eighties

My only problem with this one is that I would be too tempted to try and play with it properly, and my guess is it doesn’t actually work.

Chocolate Clock

Set to give chocolate at certain intervals. Perfect for getting through those really tricky days.

Happy Hour Clock

five

This one is my very favourite, because let’s face it, there’s only one hour that’s worth counting down to.

  1. I love the idea of a clock that supplies chocolate. The only problem I can see is that I would spend half my day filling up the chocolate dispenser.

  2. My wife has a “backwards watch” – it’s the coolest thing ever but it will drive you mental trying to tell the time, as you can never convince yourself you got it right when you look at it!

  3. My brother had a backwards watch too.

I had a Cook from Sesame Street clock when I was a boy that I absolutely loved but it made a really loud ticking noise. I had to take the battery out all of the time but I wouldn’t give it up.

  4. my high school maths teacher had a backwards clock. 5 years in that class and I still had to stare at it for a long time to work out what the time was.
