Hello. My name’s Christine and I’m a chocoholic.
Well, a recovering chocoholic, anyway. I’ve been on the wagon for a whole week now, and it seems like forever.
I didn’t know I was a chocoholic, I didn’t know I had a problem until I tried to quit. It happened because I was hungry and ate a Twix for lunch. Then I looked at the nutritional information (or un-nutritional information for a Twix) and noted the calories. Later, at the gym, I realised just how long it takes me to burn off the calories consumed.
So, I gave up chocolate. And ice cream. And anything else I’ve been eating that’s not been quite so good. I’ve been eating some oaty raisiny cluster thing for breakfast, taking an apple to work for lunch, and enjoying a proper meal for dinner.
It’s ridiculously hard work, all this eating properly, but I can’t tell you how much better I feel. I keep seeing adverts for ridiculous ‘lose weight and feel better’ things on television and I shout at the TV – “Just eat properly!”
Because it really makes that much difference.
I told a colleague what I was doing:
Me: I’ve had breakfast.
Me: I know. I’m like a normal person.
Him: Well, it’s a normal diet anyway.
That’s just cheeky.
