One of my New Year’s resolutions, as documented on this site, was to try and write some transcripts. I’d had some moderate success doing a couple and wanted to see if there was any future in it for me. Volunteering for a television site, and producing a couple of transcripts a week was a really great thing for me to do. It kept me active, gave me something productive to do, helped me to think, and also gave back to the script-reading community. Everyone’s a winner.
Then the website owner decided to take a break. Now, I don’t know where he went or why and it may be that he had a really good, valid reason for disappearing on us. But it seemed to me that he just went away without a word. There was no update in over two months, when usually there is one every few days.
Then a sign appeared at the top of the website saying he would do an update on a particular date, but that day came and went with no sign of anything. It was only recently that anything new started appearing on the website, and now it seems like we’re back in business.
But it’s too late.
After him being gone for so long, without a word as to why, I gave up the transcribing lark and actually got around to writing some stuff of my own.
I wouldn’t have been so peeved if he had said. Even if it was just a note to say: Gone for personal reasons. Back as soon as possible. That’s enough. But to just disappear off the face of the planet is a little bit disrespectful to all those volunteers that have put in hours and hours of effort to make his website what it is today.
So, I’m not doing it anymore. I’m using my Amazon Rental by Post for films instead.
