Blogathon 2006 (25 of 48): Art class

Having been staring at my very special Blogathon header picture for 12 hours, it is now seared into my brain.

I wish that I could make things like that. When it comes to art, I can see exactly what I want to happen in my head, but I can never get it to come out on the paper, or whatever medium I happen to be working with.

I remember one particular art class at school where we were drawing pictures of some fruit in a bowl, and my apples actually looked like an apple, and I got a B or something like that. I was so impressed with myself that I was skipping with joy for the rest of the day.

That was the one and only time I did something good in art class though.

That’s why I like photography, because it doesn’t really take any special skill to take the picture. Sure, there are complications such as lighting and composition and all that stuff, and in time, I hope to learn about them. But the most important point is that I can see what I want a picture of, I press the button and snap, I have the picture.

That’s the kind of art I like.
